What is CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture is the basic principle of pairing local consumers who want fresh produce with local growers who want a stable and appreciative market for their produce. A "community" of consumers supports a local farm by purchasing, in advance, "shares" of the upcoming season's harvest.  The farmer grows produce for it's members and delivers it through the season. The CSA members pledge support to this farming operation where both
the growers and members share the risks and benefits of food production.

The benefits of participating in a CSA are...
1. All produce is grown sustainably. No GMO seeds are used. We add compost and mulch, rotate crops, and plant beneficial cover crops to enrich the soil. We believe in growing methods that work in harmony to sustain a healthy, fertile and biologically active environment. The proof is our soil: dark and rich in nutrients, micro-nutrients, and humus. This is why our produce looks so beautiful and tastes so good!
2. Produce that tastes better because it's only hours old and straight off the farm, full of flavor and vitamin benefits.  All this fresh, local food means more energy and better health for you and your family.
3. Weekly distributions of premium quality fruits or vegetables with an emphasis on variety.  Check our Crop Calendar to see what all we're growing.
4. Supporting a local farming business, which in turn brings more money to your local community.
5. Knowledge of where your food comes from, and developing a mutual trust and friendship with a farmer.
6. Save time shopping.
7. Fruit is usually in short supply at the farmers markets. Having a Fruit CSA will guarantee that you get fruit every week, without having to show up early before sell out.
In a time of increasingly industrialized food production and the environmental problems that accompany it, won't it be good to know where your food is coming from?

2012 CSA farm shares:
Fruit share: 20 weeks/$300 ($15/week)
May 20th - Sept. 30th
You can expect 2-3 of the following kinds of fruit in your share each week:(strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, peaches, watermelons, cantaloupes, canary melons, seedless grapes, pears, apples) The first and last week of the season may only contain 1-2 kinds of fruit depending on seasonal weather and fruit maturation.  Your fruit share will meet or exceed the market value of $15 each week.
(example #1: pint of raspberries, bag of peaches, & a cantaloupe;
example #2: 2 lbs. grapes, 2 Asain pears, & a bag of apples)
There are a limited number of fruit shares available.

Fall vegetable share: 8 weeks/$240 ($30/week)
week of Sept. 24 - week of Nov. 12
You can expect a half bushel box overflowing with 7-10 items from the following list: (tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, peppers, eggplant, savoy cabbage, kale, swiss chard, spinach, arugula, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, acorn squash, pie pumpkins, beets, carrots, salad turnips, and more)

Wed:   -UT Farmers Market (UT Gardens) 4-6pm
Thurs: -New Harvest Farmers Market (east Knoxville) 4-6pm
Sat:     -Oak Ridge Farmers Market 8-12pm
            -Market Square Farmers Market 9-2pm
